FOUNDING SWIFT'S AUTOMOTIVE, LLC

DAVID SWIFT: CO-FOUNDER AND MECHANIC

For David Swift, working on cars was never just a job—it was something that naturally became part of his life.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Swift spent his early childhood there before moving to Iowa at eleven years old. Growing up in a lower class family, he learned early that if something broke, you figured out how to fix it. That mindset stayed with him, and before long it found its way into the automotive world. After gaining experience in a professional shop, he began spending his free time working on vehicles for friends and family, continuously learning through hands-on work and developing a genuine curiosity about how cars functioned beneath the surface.

What started as an interest eventually became a career.

Swift entered the automotive industry in April of 2011 as a lube technician, eager to learn everything he could. Over the next decade, he worked his way into full mechanic positions, gaining experience in dealership environments as well as independent repair shops. Every stop along the way added another layer to his knowledge—not just about repairing vehicles, but about diagnosing problems correctly, communicating with customers, and understanding that every repair carries someone's trust with it.

Those years taught him something that still guides every repair today: there is rarely a shortcut to quality work.

Some problems can look obvious at first glance but have a completely different cause underneath. Swift learned to slow down, inspect carefully, test thoroughly, and understand the entire picture before recommending a repair. That attention to detail has become one of the defining characteristics of his work. Rather than replacing parts until something works, he believes in finding the actual problem and fixing it the right way the first time whenever possible.

Outside of work, Swift has always been the person friends and family call when something isn't running right. Even after spending all day in the shop, he often found himself helping someone in his driveway simply because he enjoys solving problems and seeing people get back on the road. For him, automotive repair has never been limited to business hours—it's simply something he enjoys doing.

If you ask Swift about vehicles, there's a good chance the conversation eventually turns to General Motors. He's proudly a genuine GM guy and has always had a soft spot for the brand. That said, his loyalty doesn't stop at the vehicles he personally enjoys driving. Whether it's a domestic truck, an import sedan, or a family SUV, every vehicle that comes into the shop receives the same careful attention and respect.

Life eventually brought another major change when Swift met his wife, Alice. Together they made the move to Texas, where they decided to build both their future and their business. Launching a mobile service wasn’t about staying stuck in a traditional shop—it was about taking his skills on the road to give people the honest care they truly deserve.

Over the years, Swift had seen too many people leave repair shops feeling confused, pressured, or uncertain about what had actually been done to their vehicle. He wanted something different. A shop where customers could ask questions without feeling rushed. A place where repairs were explained in plain language, recommendations were honest, and people felt comfortable with every service.

That vision became Swift's Automotive.

Today, Swift approaches every customer the same way he approaches every repair: with honesty, patience, and genuine respect. He believes good communication is just as important as good mechanical work. Whether someone needs routine maintenance or a more complicated repair, his goal is to make sure they understand what's happening with their vehicle and feel confident in the decisions they're making.

If you've met Swift, you've probably noticed he's naturally outgoing. He enjoys getting to know the people behind the vehicles just as much as he enjoys working on the vehicles themselves. Conversations that begin with a simple service request often end with stories, laughs, and familiar faces returning months later. It's also why so many customers are happy to record review videos with him after their experience—they're not just talking about a repair, they're talking about someone they've come to know and trust.

For Swift, success isn't measured by how many vehicles move through the shop in a day. It's measured by the customers who come back, recommend Swift's Automotive to their friends and family, and know they have a mechanic they can count on when something goes wrong.

That's the kind of business he set out to build, and it's the same approach that continues to guide every repair today.
